From Mozy’s Brrr(ain)child:
3 Ways Mozy Is Naturally Eco-Friendly

Author: Charlie is the founder and creator of Mozy, a thermodynamics engineer who turned his frustration with cold outdoor events into a patented warming solution. Originally designed to keep his mother comfortable at her grandchildren's games, Mozy now helps thousands stay warm without missing life's precious moments

When I created Mozy, my main goal was to keep people warm. I wanted people to feel comfortable on the game-day sidelines, in the stands, or wherever the wind takes them. But the more I saw Mozy being used in everyday life, the more I realized it was doing something else too: helping people live a little more sustainably, just by replacing wasteful habits.

Mozy wasn’t built to be a “green product,” but it was built to last, and that’s where real impact starts. Here are three real ways Mozy naturally supports a more eco-conscious lifestyle.

1. It Keeps You Warm. And Your Laundry Load Down.

This one surprised even me. When we started hearing from customers, one of the most common things they said was: “I don’t need to wash towels and blankets all the time anymore.”

Mozy’s outer shell is made from a heavy-duty 400 denier nylon, the same type used in hiking gear, backpacks, and technical outerwear. It’s water-repellent and windproof, meaning it doesn’t get soaked or stained the way a cotton towel or blanket might. We also treat the fabric with a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating, as well as a fire-resistant treatment. We wanted to make sure it stands up to rain, mud, spills, and even stray embers from the fire pit.

That means you can use it again and again before it ever needs a wash. Less laundry means less water, energy, and detergent use. And when something stays in rotation all season long, that’s less gear in the wash, and less gear in the trash.

2. It’s Designed to Last (Not Landfill)

As an engineer, I tested 41 different prototypes to get Mozy just right. We needed to know that the materials we chose would provide our customers with something they wouldn’t need to replace.

Mozy is made to handle real-life conditions: muddy campsites, aluminum bleachers, spontaneous bonfires, and everything in between. We tried thinner materials during development, but they didn’t hold up, especially when bumping against sharp corners or rough outdoor surfaces. That’s why we landed on a tightly woven, rip-resistant nylon shell - the kind you’ll also find in gear meant for climbing, hiking, and long-term outdoor use.

Every time Mozy replaces a low-quality blanket, hoodie, or emergency poncho, that’s one less item bound for the donation bin (or worse, the landfill).

3. It Replaces What You’d Normally Overpack

One of the most underrated ways to live more sustainably is to simply carry less stuff. Mozy solves that problem by doing the work of several items at once.

It’s part blanket, part coat, part stadium cushion. You can sit on it, walk in it, wrap up in it, and adjust it as the weather changes, from open and breezy at 70° to fully wrapped and wind-blocking when the temperature drops.

And because it’s adjustable, you don’t have to layer up or pack multiple items for “just in case.” Mozy becomes the one thing you always bring, which means you’re not constantly buying, forgetting, or throwing away things that didn’t quite work.

Bottom Line: Smart Design Is Sustainable Design

We’re not calling Mozy a “green” product, but we are proud that it helps people cut back on waste, water use, and constant replacement just by doing what it does best: keeping you warm and cozy.

Sometimes sustainability is about choosing gear that works harder, lasts longer, and helps you need less.

That’s exactly what we set out to build.
